3 batter rule starts in March

Three-batter Minimum
Definition

In an effort to reduce the number of pitching changes and, in turn, cut down the average time per game, MLB instituted a rule change that requires pitchers to either face a minimum of three batters in an appearance or pitch to the end of a half-inning, with exceptions for injuries and illnesses.

Previously, Rule 5.10(f) stated that the starting pitcher must pitch to one batter until that batter was put out or reached base, and Rule 5.10(g) stated that any reliever must pitch to one batter until that batter was put out or reached base, or the offensive team was put out, with exceptions for injuries and illnesses. These rules were in effect through the end of the 2019 season.

The 2020 change will likely cause a decline in the number of specialists -- such as the "LOOGY" (lefty one-out guy) -- who are primarily brought in for certain matchups.

Stupid rule, also is the end of the lefty specialist.

Pitch clock

Just enforce this and limit mound visits which is already in place. Also remind the umps they are not the show.

The most annoying time waster is batter timeouts. Why the feck does the batter get unlimited timeouts? Step in the box and face the fecking pitch. You're a professional ferchrissakes, if you aren't ready when you step out if the dugout maybe you need a new profession.

That was limited as well last year.

The biggest time waster is commercials and with tv contracts nothing is changing.

Damn, I didn't know they limited batter TOs. Finally! Oh well, I haven't watched baseball in years anyway. Too little too late.

It takes time to get those signals transferred from the outfield camera. Altuve was actually notorious for this, and now we actually get why.

To implement this they'd have to get better batting glove. I don't know how many times a batter takes a pitch and then has to step out to adjust his gloves because the apparently got loose.

Why not just eliminate that 5 minute buffer for pitching changes?  Warm up in the bullpen as usual.  Give the new pitcher like 2 tosses to the catcher and keep going.  Why do they need a bullpen warmup period and then even more time for the pitching change?

You can allow the extended warmup in emergency injury situations.  But otherwise if you want to speed it up a bit, end the extended warmup.
