I'm That Guy.  I didn't think this day would ever come, but I finally had to schedule a meeting at 9am.  No choice with deadlines and conflicting schedules, but I hate doing it.

At least I'm not The Asshole who schedules a meeting for 8:00.

5:30 start for me today.  The 3:30 am one is better, since I choose to ignore it.

No, no, the point is not that I had to be present and coherent at 9:00, it's that I had to be the guy to force ten other people to be present and coherent that early.

8am is common here and even 730 is fine.  Just do not schedule one through lunch!

9am is completely fair game.  I would check with people if I needed to schedule an 8am, although we have our daily team call at 7:15am for our Denver folks (9:15 for me).  If lived in Denver there's no way I'd schedule the meeting at 7:15 but the two people there seem to be fine with it.

First hour is for coffee, breakfast, checking emails, scheduling the day, nursing hangovers, etc.

Well, you already have that entitled mentality.  I'd say you're most of the way there.  :D

I only rarely schedule for earlier than be 0900. But 0900 is completely fair game.

Good luck getting anyone in Silicon Valley to show up for a 9:00 meeting.  You might get them to join by phone from the car/bus.

9-4 is totally fair game.  4-5 is discouraged but accepted.  8-9 is last resort.  Outside of those hours, you get tarred and feathered.

That said, the CA folks frequently forget we are in a different time zone.  <_<

I mostly agree but think anything outside of 9-4 is pretty much bullshit. Our work has a pretty flexible schedule so people often come in late or leave early, as a matter of perspective.

People have things like kid obligations, etc so I think scheduling meetings at those times invite people to "decline - do not send response".
