When I was in A School in Orlando, we used to get microwavable chicharrones in pouches like microwave popcorn. I've not seen anything like that again for 25 years since returning to Indiana.

Do these still exist? I'm about to check the Amazon, any favorite brands?

I saw some a year or two at a dollar store type place. Almost bought some out of curiosity. I’m sure amazon has them

I discovered these on Amazon awhile back and bought them. I kinda forgot about them actually. I don't have a microwave at home and keep forgetting to bring them to work. Maybe tomorrow.

I've seen these a few times, and I always grab a few when I do. They're awesome!

I've never seen them consistently in stock anywhere.

These things are delicious! I got the hot and spicy Lowrey's. Not sure what you mean about not being cheap, they are only .75/bag.

We go to a mexican place in town that has chicharrones.  There is not a single mexican working there, mind you.  It's a hipster joint.  Every time I go, I order pork rinds.  Without fail, the (whiter than white) server will say "You mean chicharrones?", with full accent.  It's a family joke.

I had these at my sister's house in ATL last year.  They poured them out of the bag onto a plate and they were flat and hard.  Then into the microwave where they sizzled and puffed up.  When they came out they were still sizzling for a bit.  Everyone tried one.  We agreed that they were addicting but also agreed that we probably should not eat them.  But we did anyway.  :D

Yeah. I hear that one a lot. But I have to wonder what they think of hicks coming in and ordering the curvy butter rolls. :D

I've said before that my house has had a microwave for as long as I remember. I grew up with it. I just think of it as another appliance - good for some things bad for others - like a streamer. It's really good for pork rinds.

Not having a microwave is like not letting go of incandescent bulbs, maybe slightly worse. Yeah, don't cook meals in it, I get it, but why not heat water for a cup of tea in 2 minutes instead of 8 on the stove, or melt a little butter in 7 seconds instead of 2.5 minutes? ETA: space permitting, of course.

And the new one with an inverter can do crazy stuff like soften butter without melting it.
