I dont think it matters where the tank is. It's where the combustion is happening that you gotta worry about CO.Glad the propane burner is on a 4'x5' piece of fiberboard covered with that white stuff that you make plain cabinets with. Don't worry the tank is outside and I've been brewing indoors in inclement weather for years. Also have been boiling maple sap for the second year and boiled down at least 100 gal last year.Trying to watch 4 kettles, last runnings on the stove, along with a couple of gals of sap, more sap boiling in the pressure cooker base. AND toggling back here and the lifeboat. Got a movie que'd, but on my 3rd pitcher of HB, so that's out. It's like a sauna in here, windows fogged, dog panting, and my boys are sweaty.Have a great night, and God Bless.

Propane, burned correctly does not emit much CO. They sell un-vented 10,000 - 20,000 BTU heaters around here with Oxygen sensors. I have the windows cracked and two CO detectors, one digital with CO level readout.I dont think it matters where the tank is. It's where the combustion is happening that you gotta worry about CO.

I'm still alive after all these years. I'd like to get a bird, but our cat would eat it or at least give it a heart attack.bird = low Oxygen levelsEdit: Dead bird =The CO detectors are a good idea. If you die, dont sue me cause I didnt warn you!

I may be crazy, but I just might be the lunatic that you're looking for.I haven't had a boil over in years, but I'd still be worried about that propane inside. But, you're the crazy one, right?

Yep, the commercial propane stuff often has O2 sensors, unlike your typical outdoor burner.I may be crazy, but I just might be the lunatic that you're looking for.
I guess there's a lot of crazy people 'round here, plus the RV crowd. Propane cook tops and ovens, water heaters, unvented heaters. I really think that a wood stove puts out more hazardous stuff to breath than properly burned propane. Only water vapor and C02. Oxygen depletion would be worry sum, if I didn't open some windows.I had the burner on rolling boil 5-7 gal of wort or sap going for 12 hours yesterday, and still breathing.
That's not exactly known to be healthy.Think of what is inhaled when smoking cigs.
