They averaged 103 mph over 27+ hours, including NYC and LA traffic?  That's insane.

All the tech is cool, but kinda makes it hard to compare previous attempts.

Left Manhattan around 1:00 am, which would put them in LA around 1:00 am as well.  Doesn't say in the article, but they may have hit rush hour traffic in Omaha.

I assume they avoided any major city rush hour traffic. But every major city experiences heavy traffic throughout the day. Traffic might be moving 50-70mph but it is too heavy to weave and go 90-100. They had to make up time out west going 150+

I believe the usual tactic is to leave Saturday night (early Sunday morning) in an attempt to minimize traffic overall. Puts you into LA before Monday rush hour.

I agree on the modern tech angle vs the lunatics who ran this in the 70’s, but even with that stuff, this is ridiculously impressive.

That would have seemed crazy to me until i got a 911. It's kind of wacky how uneventful >100mph is in that car.

On a related note I heard they’re doing a “female heavy” remake of Cannonball Run staring Kristen Stewart, and Rebel Wilson :(

it's the going 150 to make up for the periods that you are below 75

I’d be willing to bet a well sorted AMG (like what the had) is actually decent at 150.

It's hard to tell exactly where they broke the speed limit.
