I was talking with Bernie not long ago.  He told me that he knows where your top hat and monocle are stored.  JKor, are you scared?  :P

With all the shit he wants to spend your money on, everyone is in his sights.

Basically this.  I am not going to be pleased when the retirement I worked for starts taking a hit to pay for all this 'free' stuff being promised.  Or in the words of the light rail proponent in Charlotte awhile back discussing costs: "People shouldn't worry so much about the cost  Most of it is federal money."

How much could be paid for by just cutting military spending?

Seeing that we're likely heading into military arms race with China I wouldn't count on this happening.

I'm not mad at billionaires. I think we need to make a whoooooooole bunch more of them, in fact. Millionaires, too.

The people that hate billionaires think that creating more billionaires means we also create more poor people. These people are idiots. Unfortunately there's a lot of them so, as ridiculous as it seems, we have to take this seriously.

It doesn't really matter. If it turns out that cutting military spending is an appropriate action, then the resulting "savings" should be used to lighten tax burden or pay down debt.

We? I mean, they can certainly decide for themselves to create value in the world. It isn't a "we" action, though. The best "we" can do is stay out of the way as much as possible.

This is true. The Bolshevik revolution was real. Red China was real. East Germany was real, in case stain hadn't heard. We go through this time and time again, yet people are always eager to repeat hundreds of years of human misery just because the nice car *they* get from capitalism isn't as nice as car somebody else can make under capitalism. So they would rather everybody just be issued ratty old sneakers instead.

True.  I also love the mantra "pay your fair share".  What's fair and who determines what is fair?  It's fun to demonize the rich, apparently.  Sure there are crooks out there who have money that they made doing something underhanded but most everyday people don't separate those people from honest, hardworking people who also happen to have money.  I hate the idea of people wanting to just feck the rich for no other reason than "they have the money".

How much money could be saved if the federal government got out of everything that it wasn't charged with in the constitution?
