I'll probably head to my LHBS (11 minutes away) but I just called and a guy who isn't one of the regular guys who works in the store answered the phone and he didn't see any whirlfloc.  he said they had something that sounded like he said "durafine" but I can't seem to determine what that is.  I'll call back a little later when the regular guys are in the store I guess and see what's up but I was curiuos about what my options are other than whirlfloc and if you guys can speak to any of them.  I know there is irish moss which I've never used but I'm not sure if they carry that either.  anything else I should be aware of?

thanks, gang!

I would just skip it.  I did just get some Whilfloc G that is not tabular and some Divergan F that I need to try out to see how it works.

mashing right now!  I called and I guess they have some in the back that they use and they'd sell me some of those.  not too far away so seems worth it.

a little pricey but not awful.  10 for $2.  tough dealing with this small craft brewers sometimes.  they think they know everything and have to make sure you know it!

for whatever reason the evidence I see online seems to point to WF working better for some reason.  might be how it's processed even if the ingredients are exactly the same (not sure they are).

That would be my first choice - get some later when it's convenient

I never had much luck with it compared to whirlfloc.  Surprisingly I followed the instructions too........

Really?  It's exactly the same thing without the caking agents.  I never saw a difference between the 2.

It has been said to work better rehydrated. I have yet to try it tho.

Yeah, when I used IM I rehydrated it.  Did it help?  Dunno, but it was easy and didn't hurt.

It's been a long time since I used it.  I think it was a third place prize in a local comp - I haven't entered any in a loooong time.  I know it's the same thing, used it a few times and I guess I tossed it since it's gone.
