Rolling blackouts sweeping across the Golden State will leave around 1M people in the dark.

Vibes to our Cali (yes Moon, it's Cali) Blewbs.

The footage I saw on the news looks like a nightmare at the gas lines and grocery stores.

Hopefully this won't last long. When the lights go out and the EBT cards stop working bad things will happen.

I understand the immediate reality of why they're doing it, but it really shouldn't have to be necessary to shut off electricity due to fire conditions. Anyway, hopefully any serious fires are averted.

Mostly in PG&E (NorCal) Fire affected areas.. I live in an SCE area(SoCal) that was surrounded by fire zones were all the transmission lines are buried, and we’ve gotten no outage warnings

The dems have have been running California for decades. PG&E is a public utility. Every dollar collected, every dollar spent, every regulation  and policy ignored has been under the watchful eye and with the tacent approval of the public utilities commission.

This smells like a big "Eff You" from PG&E. And the eventual justification for rate hikes. "Well we could stop the blackouts, but we need more money....."

Definitely seems that way. Weren't they also angling for immunity from fire liability?

They were threatening to declare bankruptcy, maybe they filed, I do not know.

I think PGE is trying to force the State of California to give them a waiver of liability to keep electricity on no matter what. That way, they can keep doing business and making money without having to spend any on improving their infrastructure.

Perhaps the state should have invested in infrastructure, instead of illegals.

The state does not have to invest anything, they need to direct PG&E to comply with existing laws.

I heard that half of all homeless people in America, are in California.

Said on the news this morning that Malibu had been given 48 hr notice that they were getting turned off because of the Santa Anna winds.  Apparently they're a big deal - all they're talking about on local news.

How long are these rolling blackouts supposed to last?  My firm just sent out a couple of links for "Survival Guide To The Blackout".  Most of it was related to food safety from what I could tell.

Here's a tip... don't open your fridge or freezer for the hour and you'll survive just fine.  Cali will get back to normal excessive power consumption shortly.

Didn't PG&E catch a lot of crap for NOT killing power due to high winds before the Campfire fire?  I had the idea that cutting power was an expected action on their part and they were accused for not doing it quick enough.  So they're being proactive and killing power here.

Sounds like its the same issue as companies maintaining right of ways amped up by an exponent.  They catch hell for trimming trees, and when they don't do it aggressively enough, they catch hell for the power going out in a storm.
