If in the right frame of mind it's ok but if i'm just having a beer at home with lunch/dinner. A 6.5% is going to put me out. I had a pint of 5.5% around 3:30 today and i'm still feeling it. I've been dragging ever since then.

Funny, I’m reading this while sipping 125 proof white spirit (Buffalo Trace white dog #1).

I guess I want my session to last longer. If I have 2 beers and get sleepy, that's no fun.

Big difference is that alcohol doesn't slow me down. It fires me up. Pure energy.

This might sound mean, but its not meant that way– maybe you should have your liver checked.  If you're noticing a big change in alcohol tolerance, seems worrisome.

Seems like if I’m less than the 6-7% range, I just can’t get the buzz I’m looking for. Have to supplement with shots

Hmmm...maybe not the worst idea.  I've never really drank very much so it's a little tough to say whether my tolerance has changed a lot.  It's been a long, long time since I have drank high ABV beers somewhat regularly.  The last few years I almost exclusively drink session IPAs, pale ales, etc.  I figured that the quicker shot of alcohol to the system is overwhleming my diminished tolerance.  I've always had a bad reaction to stronger drinks, as in spirits, I could never drink them.

It's part psychological, too.  If I'm in a high energy environment i can drink quite a bit without it hitting me heavily so I'm not sure it's fair to say my physiological tolerance is truly diminished.

Animal flesh is the only thing keeping me alive. But that's not what we're talking about here is it?  Doobah used the singular when he should've busted a plural.
