Seems like St. Louis and Sacramento to be awarded expansion franchises by 2022.

A 30 team league is good for soccer in the states

St. Louis may be announced on Tuesday. The Sacramento folks were scrambling last I heard.

I don't like the way the league is heading. Too high an entrance price now and not enough competition. We need to get on the path of the rest of the world or we won't keep developing.

StL is putting up all private funds from what I hear from family.

It’s always been a soccer town in a nation that didn’t support soccer. Good to see that may be changing

SLU vs SIUE used to draw 20k when I was a kid. For college soccer.

The Steamers used to draw 15k for indoor soccer.

The league has always wanted to be in St. Louis and have finally gotten the right match with ownership. Deep pockets (Enterprise car rental folks), downtown stadium, etc.

The only two towns where I hear MLS news is Chicago and Dallas and I am hearing the same complaints, after checking out attendance it looks like they are two of the lowest cities so they may not be representative of the league. May be local issues.

FC cincinnati is handling their image worse and worse as time goes on.

No neighborhood wanted their stadium so they are jamming it down the throat of the low income one. The renderings of the stadium itself is hideous and won't fit the neighborhood at all.

Nearby is cincinnati music Hall, a study showed that soccer noise would disturb performances. That bought the building the ballet is housed in and tried to cancel their long term lease.

Too their credit, they ate doing it with private funds. But there is a public stadium that was built with soccer in mind. MLS refused to use it. Instead they modified a college stadium for temporary usage.

On top of that,. They suck on the field.

People still support them. But they aren't doing themselves any favors with non fans. It's basically black and white, you're either a fan or you think everyone associated is an idiot. There's no middle ground like you see with other sports teams.

A new expansion team is typically going to suck. I think Cincy was pretty good at the lower level but moving up a level will take time

Agreed. But if you're going to do other dumb shit, you should at least win.

As the situation is, they are pissing off large, non fan, portions of the population with other moves. Those populations are saying WTF, not only are these guys stupid, they don't win anything either.
