Farm Bureau just quoted me $100 month for a 16 yr old male in a 2002 F150.

It works out really well when you're young.

Wife is getting the insurance quote this morning. We are going to garage her Challenger and put insurance on it for weekends she plans on using it.

She is also stopping by and putting a $500 deposit on the Jeep so we can bring the boat tomorrow to do the deal.

The only issue I’ve heard with that era TJ is the distributor having some lubrication issues and possibly freezing up taking out the drive gear etc which leads to some moderate engine work. Might check into it and see if this is one of the effected ones.
Mine wasn’t one of them and I’ve forgotten what years exactly, pretty good info on the Jeep boards about it.

Dang. That would be 8-10k here on Craigslist. Maybe I need to start looking for one down your way.

Seriously, set your Facebook market place location to Jacksonville Florida and search Jeep Wrangler 4x4.

The one I listed sold over the weekend. Salesman was texting with me about it. I called the dealership only to find it sold on Saturday. Salesman was trying to use it to bring us in. I really don't like that shit.

the one that was going to take your boat as a trade? That would make me angry dragging the boat down there for a car that doesn't exist

That one. Something didn't seem quite right. He wasn't giving real specific details about the Jeep, so I called the dealership and asked if the 1999 Wrangler Sahara was still at this dealership and the lady said it sold on Saturday.

Wow, that would piss me off beyond belief. I might look for a yelp and maybe call the BBB.

Lol, my wife only spoils the boy a little. She wants to buy him this 2004. Budget? Did we really have a budget?

Before you buy one that’s been at all modded take it to a decent shop.
Tj’s were known to have a distributor issue with lubrication in some of the 4.0 models, can’t recall exactly which years but check a couple wrangler forums for distributor issues. They also were prone to rusting out the frame if mudding was a hobby of the previous owner. Crawl under with a screwdriver and poke around in the frame for rust and take a close look at where the control arm brackets are attached.
Peel up the carpet and look close at the rockers for water.
I’ve got a 2006 wrangler unlimited (lJ) which has a little rocker rust coming through from rain soaking in when the top was off.
I’ve got a good friend who owns a Jeep shop and we’ve been piling up parts to do a long arm lift and repair the rust before adding rocker guards/sliders.

The above pictured would be one I’d spend money and time looking over. Those rocker guards are either plastic mall crawler accessories or possibly covering rust. And the matching hood thing makes me think tape on plastic which is likely got some rust under it.
