Seems like a good price, I would not be worried about rolling. I would be worried about mpg. Looks like combined 16-17. Although the 2nd choice of a truck is going to be similar.

I think you plan is to have him drive with your wife while he has his permit. So during that time the gas cost is probably a wash. The question becomes once he has is license will he still want to commute with Mom? At that point who is paying for gas $40-50 ads up

After permit he will commute with mom in the morning. After school he will be on his own with afterschool activities. I can always pick her up after school. We are only two miles apart.

my son got his permit on Saturday 15.5 years old to the day. We want him driving as much as he wants it. I am tired of picking him up and dropping him off for practices.

car insurance is one of those things where I want them to have skin in the game. I don't expect him to pay 100% but he will pay some.

I will not title it in his name. I am sure adding him as a driver will up our rates.

Title doesn't matter. I predict it will be $200/month no matter how you add him.

That is doable.

I have my wife reluctantly getting on board as long as it has dual airbags and full doors. After looking all over the state I found a sweet one at a dealership a few miles from the house. I have my fingers crossed I kill two birds with this. They will appraise my bow rider and take it on trade. They are asking $5,500 for a 1999 Wrangler Sahara that is loaded. The boat could get it under 4K and I don't have to deal with selling my boat.

What’s the honest value of that boat? Trade value seems low

For a 5k vehicle? If that's how it is, in letting my kids apply for emancipation at 16.
