My wife's boss invited us for the day to his lake house out towards Columbia, SC. He had 3 wave runners and a really nice boat. I took my maiden voyage on a wave runner and it was way more fun than I imagined! Man, way faster than I thought, the acceleration was super quick. I got up to 54 mph and it felt like 100! Damn, fun, fun, fun.

As an avid boater, I hate "jet-skiers"...But, man, they're fun!

I really like Wave Runners/Jet Skis. If we were to own anything that mixes water and fuel, it would be a PWC instead of a boat.

As an avid paddle board guy, we have more close calls with PWC than any other kind of craft. They seem to think the 100 foot/no wake law doesn't pertain to them.

After that, it's the wake boat boats.

When I was in my mid 20s a friend had 2. He purchased the first one and got bored that he didn't have any one to go out with him. The next summer he purchased a 2nd one.

My point is get 2 so you have company

They look fun. But most bros on pwcs are disrespectful to other boaters, fishermen, SUPs, and kayaks.

why do they even have a throttle, seems an on/off switch would work just as well for the way people ride them!

Keep them in the south where they belong.

I've ridden several. They are fun,but get boring quick.

But maybe that's because I'm no marauding other boaters and fishermen by driving too close, jumping their wake and riding dangerously.

I bruised my butt cheek on one screwing around. Didn’t sit right for a week, Dr prescribed Vicodin for pain which was nice.

I got off of one at about 45mph, thing got sideways and launched me over the top, ended up with a nice bruise on my thigh from the end of the handlebar, cart wheeled across the water and finally ended up having a pretty long and sore swim back to it.  they are fun, but they need to be on bigger pieces of water so you can have some destinations instead of just going in circles on a smaller lake.

This. They are almost universally despised around here for these reasons. Add buzzing loons to that list as well.

Imho, their best use is towing tubes from the beach.

I’ve got two and the group of friends we play with have a bunch more from stand ups to the big ass 14’ 4 passenger lrv I bought for the trailer and ended up buying a fresh engine for.
Don’t get out to play much anymore but the kids take them and play and they’re paid for so why not.
The lrv is huge. 4-5 passenger and will easily pull a skier.

I used to own two and they were a ton of fun but lots of maintenance. As a former owner of one I would agree most of the biggest dicks I have encountered on the water are on either PwC or big luxury boats.

that thing is massive

It’s stupid big
I bought it for $100 and planned on scrapping it and keeping the trailer but stumbled across a 900 direct injection supercharged engine that was too tempting to pass up.
It’s stupid fast/powerful.

I spent the 4th at a friends lake house. 3 jet skis and a pontoon boat. I spent 45 minutes on the jet ski and almost got bored. No way I would purchase one.

And not bored in the sense that it was too slow. I never gave it full throttle and had asshole pucker at 50mph.
