My Pixel 2 XL is an amazing phone. Google Assistant is the best voice on the planet. Android Auto and my Pixel are not working together. Or maybe the Pixel is not playing with Chevy My Link. AA auto launches no problem. Pixel Bluetooth pairs with my truck no problem. AA is not recognized nor is my Pixel in the truck via USB. Pixel wasnt working USB in my Tacoma either. AA is the only real tech I want in my truck. Gotta have it. I've trouble shot everything known to humankind to get it to work and I'm about done with it.

Wife's iphone and carplay works excellent. Every single time. My question is, if I choose to disgrace myself with an iPhone, how does Google maps and Google assistant work on the iPhone? Any other issues I need to know about *that* iPhone that might be a concern for me?

Thanks for the input.

I'd try your wife's phone and see it will be satisfactory.

My wife's pixel 3a xl is recognized by Chevy my link (2016 vehicle). You phone is older and your truck is newer but neither are dated that they should work.

When you plug the phone in to the USB it probably defaults to "charging". If you pull down the notification you should have an option for other items. I need to do this when I transfer photos from my phone to my computer. One of the options might be to set up connectivity

Yes it charges. Media files are enabled along with everything that needs enabled in Google services and AA.

Pixel and Chevy My Link are updated. Google still supports Pixel 2 with monthly updates. Age of phone is not a factor.

Bluetooth pairs. USB is unrecognizable.

Make sure it's the right good quality cable. Some have pulldown resistors and some don't, if it's usb-c. The right cable made all the difference for my S8+ talking to the Kia with AA.

that was going to be my 2 cents as well.   Unless you have a name brand cable, but even if you do, i would get another to test before doing something as drastic as switching over to being an apple fanboi

My third cable will be here today. I use 3 ft Anker powerline cables. Probably the best cable available.

i've also cleared storage and cache in all associated apps along with uninstalling, reinstalling, and setting up those apps multiple times.

The Anker is that i settled on as well.

Does the phone indicate that it has an incomplete connection or anything?

If you plug the same phone and cable into a PC, will it connect for file transfer with no issues?

Wife gave me her old ipad 2 air. Does the iphone use the same interface? I find it just ok. Nothing like a Android running Nova Launcher.

Good question. I have not tried hooking to a PC yet. In the truck it says to use an approved device.

Good to know!

Go to the dealer and have them help. Tell them you are old and this new tech is confusing
