I have an offer in on this car @ $46,500. Waiting to hear back from the dealer on whether they accept. Honestly, these 2009-2011 Carrera S/4S cars are mostly at asking prices for well over $50k and they are difficult to find. There are tons of 996s and 997 first gen (2005-2008) but the 997 2nd gen (2009-2012) is slim pickings. The new engine in the 2009 has been far more reliable than the 1999-2008 engine and the only major issues with the car seem to be PDK transmission failures. I'm only looking MT so that's not an issue. Seems like it will be a model that will hold its value well...not that I'm buying it for that reason. It's just a little perk.

I'm definitely not a flashy car guy, I'd prefer black/blue/dark gray but the red does look nice and the red/yellow/etc. does seem to resell well.

Wow. Didn't know they were getting that much power out of the carrera s! If the engine is reliable like you say, then that is damn impressive. Guess that is their first direct injection engine.

I was thinking of test driving a Porsche on my way home ;)

:o

ETA:  They just called me and said someone got in a deposit before me.  The car has been on their lot for 65 days and someone puts a deposit in within an hour of them talking to me...fishy.

385hp is pretty good.  They got up to 400 in the 991 Carrera S with the 3.8 and the 991 is lighter than the 997.  The 2009-2012 Carrera S has virtually identical power-to-weight as the 996 Turbo.

chevy + faster volkswagon = twice as bad

ETA, that's mainly just meant to poke Buzz in the ribs, like the concept of automotive fusion actually.

I talked to some guys who put an LS3 in a 911. They said it was amazing.

In the words of regular car reviews, put an ls in it, you win.
You just win.

I do like the idea of having a good motor in that little chassis. Sounds like the weight difference is only about 100lbs. Handling dynamics should still be quite good tho I suspect the tendency to step out when exiting a corner hard would be a tire destroying temptation I’d find difficult to resist

Thing for me is I like the older look. I’ll either buy one of those or a newer gt3 when I do. Personally looking for a property with a private pond I can stock. So car second.
