i could only do a 944 if it were a turbo and manual. and I'd still rather save my pennies and get something else like a cayman or something

Or, the ultimate evolution (available for purchase) of the 944. The 968 turbo s:

even though I never had one for some reason I'm nostalgic for certain "older" (90s) japanese sports cars.

I gotta hold out for the 911. I like what i see in the $30s. I think i could free up ~$35k for a decent condition 911.

How much does the price go up to get the vertical headlights (mid 90's an older)? You would also get the air cooled (I think the last air cooled had the start of horizontal headlights). Bonus if it has the plaid interior

Way up. That's the current model du jour of enthusiasts. It's cheaper to get a 997 model.

Mid-90s Turbos in good shape are going for as much as the base price of a brand new Turbo.

1996 w/18k miles: $161,500: https://bringatraile...e-911-turbo-17/

2007 w/17k miles: $63,000: https://bringatraile...e-911-turbo-37/

I would consider paying the premium for a 997.2 Turbo. Last Turbo with a manual ######. That model will age well.

$58,500. Little pricey but you can probably sell it for more in 20 years.

Just do it (mid 30s, nicest NA you can find). You won't lose anything and can upgrade once/if you feel like it and can afford it.

I blew 2 years worth of high school earnings, kept mine for 15 years, put 50k miles on it, sold it for more than I paid (probably a little less with inflation figured in). Basically got to drive a Porsche for the forgone interest.

I was just using it as an example for what they are going for.

I saw that. Maintenance costs and finding parts must be brutal.

Look to see if you have a dealership like this.
https://www.toybarncars.com/

They specialize in used sports cars. I don't know if you get the best price. But I would trust a place like this more than a dealership that has one used porsche
