The google can give me a clue, but ya know, maybe the PHBT is more reliable.

Anyone on here have any experience going to and/or living in Perth?

What's it like?  Specifically, what's the weather really like?

Cost?

Is it the kind of place you would live?

Long time since I was in Perth but the weather was great, though a bit hot in summer.  The most expensive place to live in Oz, but if you can afford it, it would be nice.  Personally, I prefer Melbourne.

If you're going to go do professor stuff out there, I'm inviting myself over.

I know next to nothing about it, except it is one of the most remote large cities on planet earth, and it has a water/drought problem.

Do you think they have good pizza?
Is it delivered by domesticated kangaroos?
Are there beans in their chili?

Something along those lines; got an offer out of the blue from a senior colleague.  But I think the cons outweigh the pros for us, personally - mainly we're not already there and we love where we are and what we do now.  Though Perth seems like a great place to visit/vacation, and outstanding for scientific opportunity (and so is Colorado).

Do you think they have good pizza?
Is it delivered by domesticated kangaroos?
Are there beans in their chili?

All very necessary questions.

Weird - other websites say it's one of the most affordable places to live there, I think because of what people make.  Certainly the pay offered for this mitigates affordability as an issue.

I was most curious about the weather, and your ref says it's nice and dry, which I like.  I can't live in a swamp again.  Last week I was back in my birthland, Virginia, for work and was a complete wimp with the all around wetness.

Wetness...

Not going there.

I love the idea of Australia. Read "In a sunburnt land" by Bill Bryson. If I had a standing offer, I'd have to really think about it with my wife.

Foreign people love me. I'd probably have a good time in not-america. Looks like you're talking about some big island below where the nukes put a lid on the pacific theater awhile back?  My only concern would be what kind of work i'd be doing. ####ing people eat stuff so i'd eat whatever they're eating. And they have Fosters. The climate is going to change anyway, so why bother? Liquor. Pack liquor.

My step daughter went to Australia last year. She said it was very expensive unless it was something very local since the country is so large but the population is scattered.

I'm just sayin'. You walk outta your "house" or whatever form of shelter they have down there and this two-headed freak is looking at you from across the path.

And it gets worse.

What do you think that face tail evolved to do?  10 Australian fake dollars says that every time to hit an outhouse, this thing is in there waiting for you to sit down.

Oh look the missing link where rats and cats sorta (but not really) bifurcated.  Notice how that's not sifting through trash in NYC or crawling the backwoods of AmUUURRHRHHICA. Nope, living in prehistoric Australia. Trying to look relevant.
