I was awakened in the middle of the night by a loud pounding on the door.
I grab a gun, turn the lights on, and yell 'who is it' though the door and it's two young cops. I open the door and one asks me in an accusing voice where the wife is and what have I done with her!
Knowing these idiots are at the wrong address I ask them where they think they are.
"10 Cherokee Hills Road' says the cop holding his phone up.
I said " This is 10 Some-Other-Name Drive" and I'm told 'That's not what this says' by the cop waving his phone at me.
Apparently they were on their way to a domestic abuse call and ignore the street signs and THE ADDRESS PAINTED ON MY MONKEYFIGHTING MAILBOX ( they had to see it to know they were at #10) and rely on some web based map.
So, I show the one idiot my DL that does not say 'Cherokee Hills Road' and instructed the other to read the paint on my mailbox that doesn't say 'Cherokee Hills Road', and also tell them to read the street sign which also doesn't say 'Cherokee Hills Road'.
One cop stayed with me to make sure I didn't escape while the other walked down the drive to read the mailbox and then walked up the street to read the street sign.
He came back and said there must be some mistake ( like I don't know know where I live) because his app says this is Cherokee Hills Road so they should be at the right house.
I shut the door in his face as he was telling me that and locked the deadbolt, turned off the porch light, and headed back to bed wide awake and pissed off. Apparently they left at that.
What pisses me off more than being jolted out of bed in the middle of the might by a police-pounding on my door was the fact that my local cops don't have sense to read a street sign and instead do what a web map tells them...and arguing about the address.
