Watching the news this am. Ick.

It sounds like they are trying to sell me on how terrible this is and the bad times are at the door because of it. I should be angry and afraid.

Thing is, I don't care.

Why should I?

I think it should be illegal for the government not to pass a budget. But only because I hate the government.

It has no impact that I can tell.

I can't tell you what to care about but I can tell you what I care about.

I care about all the government employees and contractors and others who may be struggling to pay bills right now. They're human, and Americans, after all.

I also care about the retail establishments and restaurants and so on that depend on those same government employees as part of their customer base who may be struggling to make ends meet right now as their customer base is dealing with delayed pay etc.

But maybe that's just me.

I don’t care about the Trump media circus he’s staging tonight in attempts to sell his wall.

The government is still functioning out of the belief people will get paid and most things are not funded week to week. So the effects are minimal. It will eventually get progressively worse as funding runs out and things start trickling down to state and local governments.

Right. That's why it shouldn't be allowed to go on too long.

Yep.  This CR shit is wrong.

If I was in charge, I would mandate that they must pass a comprehensive budget every year before they can pass anything else.  And if they don't pass a budget EVERYTHING stops until they do - no this 'partial' bullshit we have now.  Make it painful enough that they don't dare not pass one.

Well, wave your magic handle around and demand some change. Its enough to make you want to not fill out those W-2 forms.

This.  Saying that a few weeks of shutdown show that government isn't needed is like holding your breath for 30 seconds and saying "See! breathing isn't all that important!"

We need major immigration reform. The only way to get it is to force congress to work on it. While this is a very heavy handed approach, it seems the only way to get any results.

"Blame for the shutdown" is a useless distinction.  The word choice implies disapproval when it is not necessarily there.  Many Trump supporters would say the shutdown is definitely caused by the President, but is worth it to achieve the goal.  Most Libertarians would surely say Trump caused the shutdown, but might disagree that the shutdown is even a bad thing at all.

The US government causes more harm than good. Therefore, the longer it remains shut down, the better. Its only logical.

I'm with stain on employees and business related to. I have some friends that are very affected by this bullshit side show circus. Flush it down. This turd is so turdy it doesn't even float.
