looking to hit around 1.068 OG.

majority of base will be pilsen malt with a little vienna and even less munich.

also some carapils.

I was also thinking a touch of carared although our friend horst dornbusch recommends 4% carahell which I don't have.

you guys have thoughts on this sort of beer?

i fear too much munich in a beer like this.  I'll def be making it a more hop forward version cause that's my bag.

If you prefer, just swap out Vienna 1:1 for the Munich and you're good to go.

A touch of melanoidin malt with the Vienna malt would a nice touch.

I just use pils and caravienne

this seems like it would work well, at 1.070 gravity this should leave ample residual extract for a solid maltiness in the finished

I was wrong...that's what happens going by memory at my age!  It was 90% pils, 7% aromatic, and 3% caravienne (carahell is fine, too).

I feel misled!  ;) but good news is that I have all 3 of those on hand.  7% aromatic sounds pretty high to me but maybe not.  that would be about 2lbs in a 10 gallon batch.  I've really been cutting back on specialty grains lately though.

I like the caravienne idea though.
