As for 2019....

I would like to shoot for 12 batches. I may do a couple 10g ones next year for lagers so that I have plenty of it for the summer. I also want to get more batches in cans. I also need to stop reading various new methods and other things. various things I read made me question my methods and did not help my mood to brew. Need to just forget all that and brew for me and the people that want to drink it.

I wish you luck! I know I have a hard time with that. Always improving! Or maybe trying to and making things worse???? Who knows???!!!

2018 total: 25 brew sessions, with a yield of 140 gallons. 

 

it was a productive year for me; did 3 ten gallon batches- which were either north of 10% abv or sub 4% abv. I enjoy making big batches of these beers because, I want some big beers for malt cellar gain, or the malt bill is so small its easier to make a 10 gallon batch. 

 

got into some uncharted territory with my brewing this last year: kettle sours, blended my first traditional lambic with several different vintages of lambics, and a Kriek with local sour cherries, barrel aged beers in a bourbon barrel, making a fair amount of lagers using the quick lager method, and fine tuning my water treatments. 

 

as fair as 2019; continue brewing as often as possible. styles looking to try is Brut IPA, pastry stout, and fruited kettle sours. I want to perfect session ales, and brew more beers with brett, and more lagers.

Looks like i will end with 13 this year. Last year was worse. But 2019, looks promising (beer stuff and LHBS certificate for Christmas)..

It's been a busy year, last night was batch #51 for me  No, I don't drink THAT much, but I do share a lot. A wedding, a few big parties and 4 beer related events, plus my group of friends gets together regularly, at least twice a month to cook and have fun, guess who brings the beer Fortunately I have a couple of pro-brewer friends who get me base malts at cost and I re-pitch yeast like crazy so I only buy 5 - 6 packs a year.

 

For 2019 I don't expect to do quite as much but I have averaged 40 or so batches for the last three years. I focus a lot on simple easy drinking beers, I have a few solid IPA's, Pale Ales, etc. and Dark Milds are new favorite, but my focus for the last year or so has been on German styles, Helles, Fest, Dunkle, Pils and I will continue to brew and refine those. Just had my first glass of Ken's "Brauhaus" helles last night, mighty tasty! and it will be one of the first re-brews of 2019. I also have about 7 gallons of Wee Shroomy that I need to figure out what to do with. Due to a gross miscalculation on my part it ended up coming in at 11.2% so I think I will be bottling that and putting some back to see how it ages.

I'll be the first to admit I brewed zero batches this year. I lost my fermentation fridge in the move to Delaware and I'm short on garage space to get a new one. Also my local shop that would kit grain recipes to order for me closed. So I need to figure out a grain storage and fermentation area before I really start brewing again. Still no excuse to not do some 2-3 gallon batches and that will be my resolution this year..

14 ten-gallon batches.   I was actually surprised by that.  Didn't seem like I did that many.     Hmmm,   2019 predictions...    I'd be happy to be able to brew the same amount.   Maybe try to time things better with doing more lagers in the spring before it gets too hot to brew them in the summer.    However,  I've got an old wooden boat sitting in the garage that needs a new bottom...

That boat rebuild would make a good ph thread. I can not remember who it was but he posted pictures as he rebuilt a boat and it was fun to see progress.

This is my dad's 1952 Chis Craft.   I launched it a couple of years ago, but it's been out of the water for over a year now.  Need to get the bottom re-done.

That thing looks fancy schmancy.  Good luck with the restoration.  You'll have to brew up some "restoration lager" to celebrate with once it's done.

I lied.  only 60 gallons last year.
