Many many hours of playing and constructing wads for the game

When I started playing that, I didn't have sound on my computer and it somehow made it more scary. I'll never forget, I had a cat at the time and it jumped from my bed to my desk when I was in the later levels of the game, and I fell backwards out of my chair having almost had a heart attack.

 

Anyone remember Heretic?

I can't remember exactly, but Doom or Heretic or something in that genre coming out at the time was one f the first "real" games I had ever played on the computer. Sure I had seen a litany of frogger, pac-man, and the rest of the 2D board style arcade games. But Doom really changed things.
