The most modern gaming system I have is a PS2/ OG XBox. I have a handsome collection of games from Atari 2600 thru PS2/Xbox/gamecube. Friend of mine gave me a copy of "Earthbound" for SNES for Christmas; which was totally uncalled for, but he got a sweet deal; he's a "collector" of classic games. Never got into modern gaming, simply because I can't dedicate the time for online game play. I rarely play, but whenever the time allows, I'll kill an hour or two. 

 

So I was wondering, since we have a sizable gamer group, what are your favorite classics? Definitively a 8-bit/16 bit fan over here. I'm a sucker for RGP's, Zelda (surprise!) Final Fantasy (I-VIII), Chrono Trigger, etc.

I'd really love to get into the old Zelda again. Actually, now that we're talking about it, I might load up my Raspberry pi emulator to get that going.

Nice! Raspberry Pi always interested me; but never made the time to make a setup. ROMs have been a little bit hard to come by lately. I remember in the late 90s/early 2000's you could find them without issue.   

 

Speaking of Old Zelda, I want to make a run on the original game without a sword. Put my 30+ years of experience to the test.

also, last night at work, I was listening to this: a complete retrospective of the punch out series; another favorite of mine back in the day. If anyone is interested in gaming history; this guy has a nice series on YT. No stone un-turned.

I grew up with video games - Pong, Atari 2600, Intellivision, and later Commodore 64/Apple II.. NES/SNES/Genesis... love all that stuff.

 

In the early days I was all about adventure games - Infocom text adventures, King's Quest, etc.  Later on with the console stuff one of my all-time favorites was Road Rash II on Genesis.  My friends and I used to play that for hours and hours on end...

the soundtrack on that game was great.
