do you find the 300 micron mesh does a good job of keeping things from clogging up?

something like this is pretty cheap: https://www.amazon.c...ds=hop strainer

decided to order 2 of the 1' tall ones.  at the very least I could put some hops in those if it doesn't seem like they'll work out.

I read in the comments at sjanish that you can put regular plastic ball lid covers on these cheap mesh tubes. not sure if that is needed. how well does the one you drilled a hole in work at keeping hop debris out (particularly around the hole)?

No issues the hole is tight. I also but on o-ring on the diptube that I slide down to keep it all in place.

so the o-ring just sits just above the lid of the hop tube?  any tips for drilling the hole cleanly?

I do have a grommet from one of my bucket fermenter lids. I wonder if it would work to seal up the hole and keep the dip tube from getting all scratched up on the edges of the hole I create.

So I'm thinking half 2-row, half gp for the base and then 2lbs of white wheat, 2lbs of oats, 1lbs carapils copper. Oh around 1.070. haven't figured out the hops yet. Definitely some citra and strata. Fermenting on 1450.

posted a thread in the recipe forum.  I'm really close to wimping out on this batch and using my hop filters in the kegs in the "conventional" manner.  I will allow the hops to roam free in the primary though since that seems pretty low risk right now.
