You really lose nothing by making a starter, so I say go for it.

In the end, it's better to er on the side of caution. Cheers!

Just my precious time! But you are right. Maybe I should make the starter a little bigger so I can reserve some yeast.

Starter is kicking within an hour, guess it was probably good!

Yeah, but now it will probably be enough.  When in doubt make a starter.  It really shouldn't take that much time.

Maybe I should post my AG starter again.

Yea, what was that again? Didn't you have some kind of canning process for an AG starter?

Basically BIAB.  I have one of the dudadiesel mesh baskets that never worked the way I wanted for hops.  It fits nicely in an electric kettle I have.

When I'm prepping for a brew I crush an extra pound of grain and vacpack it.  When I'm ready to make the starter I heat a gallon of water with the basket in the kettle and use a Ranco to control the temp but I probably don't need it.  12 minute mash, drain and start heating to boil.  Once it hits 170df I start the timer for 7 minutes.  I made a small IC out of leftover odds and ends and use it to chill the starter.  Pour it in the flask an start spinning.  That gives me 600ml to save for the next time and around 2750ml for 10 gallons.
