Rebel Brewer had gone out of business awhile back and then I got an email that they were back.  I hadn't ordered anything from them in awhile but ordered some hops and other stuff over the weekend.  I got an email today saying that I was getting a delivery from BEER MEISTER, MINNEAPOLIS, MN.  Rebel used to be in Murfreesboro, TN.  Now their address shows Plymouth, MN.  Did another supplier just buy the name REBEL BREWER?  Anyone else experience this?

I think someone did buy them out. I remember getting an email a while back.

That explains it.  Rebel used to package their own hop pellets in O2-purged, vac-sealed foil bags which was great.  But they were still packing them themselves.  Looks like BEER MEISTER (who I've actually never heard of) just has the YCH-packed hops in the 1-ounce green and white bags.  Thanks Drez.

If it's Minnesota, did Northern Brewer buy them and keep the name?

I think this is correct.

Ooh, that would be bad.  It does not say NORTHERN BREWER or MIDWEST but BEER MEISTER which could certainly be a division or subsidiary.  I was going to mention too... I don't like the idea that I thought I was buying from Rebel (who I liked and trusted... they did right by me many, many times and their shipping was quick and their orders were always accurate) but it was someone else.  The Rebel website looks exactly like it always did so someone bamboozled me!   I will be more careful next time.

What does this suggest?  Someone from NB is overseeing this?  Can't find much else on these guys but I'd rather not patronize them if they're affiliated with MW or NB.

I think this is correct.

So I take that back.  I went through old e-mails because I seem to never delete and found what is below and similar to what is on the website.  I guess they are not part of NB after all.

We have some exciting news…  Rebel Brewer is back!  We merged with another company that shared our values, Beer Meister, a 50 year old beer dispenser aka kegerator company.

Mmm, interesting.  But is Beer Meister connected to MW or NB?  I feel like I got that same email and I remember seeing Rebel going down but then came back and I guess I didn't read the fine print.  If Beer Meister just bought the name so that Rebel traffic was redirected to BM, I guess I'm fine with that but that's not really what I intended.  I honestly don't know where my online loyalties lie anymore... Farmhouse has supplied me with some poor quality hops and NB and MW are owned by big breweries.  I use LP mostly for bulk grain buys but I suppose I could use them for hops just because they've been very solid for me.  There's always RiteBrew too.

I get almost everything except hops from Ritebrew. Sometimes I will seek out a particular malt elsewhere but yeast and all other supplies is Ritebrew.

Same.  Once and a while if I want a certain yeast I will go elsewhere but 95% of the time it is Ritebrew.

LP for sacks of grain, maybe the big hop houses when they have sales and then RiteBrew for everything else unless I grab it from my local supplier.  I guess I just don't appreciate thinking I'm ordering from Rebel when it's really just the place that bought Rebel.

If Ritebrew had exchanged owners 6 times in the past year I very well may not know. Last I heard it was owned by buddy/friend of Pods8.

I guess so but Rebel was pretty unique.  Their shipping speed was insane.  It's like they sent everything FedEx Next Day or something.  I could order on Monday afternoon and get it on Wednesday morning.  If these guys WERE connected to MW or NB then there's that issue where if you don't select expedited shipping they assume you don't need it quickly so they may not even process the order for 5-6 days, etc.  I know we talked about this before and it's one reason I don't want to do business with them.  You shouldn't have to pay for fast shipping just for the warehouse to pack and ship your order.  But I suppose that if there were new owners but they kept all their good practices in place it would be fine.
