Is it coming?  Did I miss it?  I see in the past I would sometimes get an e-mail in early sept.

I have not got it yet.  I think many are still picking hop lots.  I know a brew friend of mine is heading up this weekend.  I have realized that I need no new hops!

I already know I need magnum, columbus, and citra.  I might also get some el dorado unless you guys think they are gross and I should avoid them :D

I got the list from Ted (not sure if this is b/c Denny forwarded my e-mail or just a coincidence).  All of the things I need appear to be on there.  there are quite a few I don't recognize or have never tried:

  • golden hop (never heard of)
  • azacca (possibly had in commercial beers but was always with other stuff so not sure what it's like)
  • calypso (don't think I've had it)
  • cashmere (don't think I've had it)
  • eldorado (never had but thinking of picking some up)
  • eroica (never heard of)
  • eureka (never heard of)
  • idaho gem (never heard of)
  • jarrylo (never heard of)
  • lemon drop (never tried)
  • pekko (never heard of)
  • strata (x331) (never heard of)

Are there any in here that you guys have tried that I should be using b/c they are super incredible?

idaho gem aka cleopatra also sounds like it might nice to have around for more sessionable beers.

jarrylo has banana as a descriptor - no way jose!

pekko is herby which isn't something I'm usually looking for but some may want that.  just an FYI.

I have Idaho Gem but have not used them yet. Azacca is nice but mild and needs a supporting hop imo. El Dorado pairs real well with Citra and Mosaic. I find it overpowering alone. Jarrylo and Pekko are a hard pass for me. Blech!

I thought the lemon drop sounded like something I didn't want in my beer, but had some Stone Delicious IPA this weekend & damn if it didn't have a real lemondrop candy aftertaste was pretty good. Think I might use it in the future.

I tried cashmere in a beer, I thought it was pretty good, but pretty mild.

I'm thinking I'll need to make some drez pale ale and do most of my hopping as dry hops so I can try a couple of hop combos.

Have you ever tried keeping the kettle additions to a minimum?
