Hope this doesn't go all hotspot.

I don't agree with all this, but I do wonder about such things myself.

Not necessarily can't it not be personal?
Just a discussion about a possible set of definitions?
Probably not. I guess.

That's pretty fascinating.  One might have thrown lefties and liberals into the same bucket because those terms have seemed interchangeable for years.

It is interesting how certain words morph in meaning over time...used to be gay=happy, now gay=FABULOUS!

Here, it gets blurry, since left/right has (at least in my lifetime) been synonymous with liberal/conservative. Parsing these is a tough sell.

Alan Dershowitz is politically all over the map. He's more of a Libertarian than anything, but even that's not accurate. He favors gun control, which wold put him in opposition to most here and to Libertarianism. He's condemned Trump's disclosure of classified info, but opposes any legal investigation of those acts. Supported Hillary Clinton, opposed Barack Obama. Him calling himself a liberal is a stretch.

I agree with Prager with many of his points. But you'll notice he never made any contrast or comparisons to liberals and democrats, or social democrats and leftists, or nationalist democrats and leftists. Just liberal and leftists. And I find it amusing hard core conservatives support the current administration's ties to Russian, North Korean, and Chinese politicians. You know, those hard core socialists that used to be called Leftists.

He actually has others discussing other contrasts.

There has to be at least a little overlap

I find it all very interesting because I have always said that the whole Democrat/Republican choice needs to be adjusted.  There are a lot of offshoots of both and when I find myself in a conversation with someone on this topic, I almost always find people who won't claim to be either because their views on various topics are mixed and don't neatly fall into one or the other.

I thought that liberalism was defined by accepting and/or adopting new theories and ideas that work better than old ones without prejudice.

I don't agree with the video on all his points and they seemed to get more vague and more sniped to support his claims towards the end.

Upon reflection I could just as easily say to conservatives that liberals aren't their enemy, rightist as well as leftists are.

The source is *not* a University, although it tries to lead to you to believe that it is.  That discredits it a good bit from the outset.

I don't think the left or liberals have been constantly for the Nationalism that is currently taking hold here, see FDR getting us into WW2, Kennedy & Johnson getting us into Vietnam.

It's right wing propoganda, pure & simple.

It's a little heavy handed, but generally correct. Today's Democratic party is definitely not liberal.

It's more that people have begun using the term 'liberal' incorrectly.
