I honestly don't remember much being said about what their vessels are made of, but I fell in love with the Fellowship movie, and that caused me to read the books.
Bilbo's party at the beginning has everyone drinking from earthenware mugs, much like Ken's German mug. Here's a shot (though IIRC it's actually taken from the last film when they all come back home):
I've got one from Pauliner I believe, it's great...but a lot to drink in one sitting, and I never brew the proper beer to fill it lol!
