I just checked my speed and I'm getting 180Mb (12 upload) through Comcast. The last time I checked it I was around 100.

I still recall the day we went from 56K to DSL at 1.5Mb and I thought it was the diggity.

My Comcast bill for 25/5 just went from $50 to $70. 40% increase for the same substandard service. Can’t wait to get my house back and have FiOS again. In NJ it was $50 and faster than the office.

Had 150 Mbs from Comcast, was $60 for the first year, then bam $85, so we downgraded to the 60 Mbs plan for $56, still more than enough bandwidth or our uses.

I average about 10 Mbit down on our 25 Mbit connection from WOW, but that is due to the 1.5 mile non-line-of-sight wireless connection I had to setup to access it. :)

The service from WOW has been great and is half the price of the DSL ($29.99), without all the problems. When we were on DSL, we would have issues with bandwidth contention (due to the slow speed) and dropped packets. All of the problems made it hell when trying to perform remote IT work.

That's my gripe. I spend most of my day on skype, and I'm probably pushing it with 25/5, especially if I'm on video and sharing my screen. Doesn't take much going wrong to turn meetings into "can you hear me now/can you see my screen" bingo.

I have Charter Business Internet only, and for the amount of shit everyone piles on Charter, I have very few problems out of their service. Outages are almost rare, and if they happen it is remedied in a timely manner. Because I have a business account, supposedly I get priority service. So far, for the years I have used Charter, I've been well pleased. When they first came to this area many years ago...yeah the service sucked. But they have a contract with the public school system to be the exclusive provider of internet and cable TV. So while they are a monopoly, the trade off is that their product is considered a service, much like water or power. There is a special segment on the county and city webpage that specifically handles complaints of a serious nature. Complaints made this way are met with swift and generous remedy.

Mine was going to be that high too but for some odd reason if you bundle your local channels it drops to $50. They gave me a A/D converter which I don’t even have hooked up as OTA is a much better picture.

Maybe it helps them say that they have more customers subscribing to cable tv, I don’t know for sure. My bill is $60 once taxes and fees are added in.

I’d have to check but I don’t believe I’m under an contract.

For the past couple years they’ve allowed me to subscribe to cable during football season then I just turn the receivers back in and go back to the package I’m on now.

The streaming apps, in particular ESPN, seemed to have improved greatly in terms of buffering. I’m going to attempt to stream ESPN games this year and stick with internet only. We’ll see how it goes.
