The wife and I always do this, for really any party. By slightly nice, I mean a shirt with a collar. Nothing crazy. We figure since the people throwing the event went to the trouble, least we can do is look nice. Always surprised by how few people take the point of view. Most everyone else dons a T-shirt and shorts.

What sayeth the PH?

Hmmm well, can't say that I agree with you in this instance. It's a kid's party..assuming a birthday party. The day isn't really about the grown ups. Now, if it were say...a dinner party of friends getting together, yes I would put on a collared shirt,  "dressy" pair of jeans, and maybe if I was feeling it, a sports jacket.

Kids party? I'm wearing shorts and a T-shirt. Preferably one with a funny slogan.

For a kids party I would dress in clothes that can get dirty. If the kids are real small there's always cake falling and ice cream dripping. For slightly bigger kids, it seems that I always get turned into a human jungle gym.

The level of dress should match the level of cleanliness in the host's house.

The older I get the snappier I might dress for something.  Even when we just have people over to hang out in the backyard I might wear nicer shorts and a short-sleeve, button shirt or a polo.  If I go to someone else's house I would do the same.  There are times when I feel like I dressed too nicely but other times I feel like I got lazy too.

I would put something nicer on than my work clothes.  A nice T-shirt, probably one of my casual skirts.  My work clothes consist of jeans with stains and holes, 10 year old yoga shorts that have seen better days, stained and dirty tanks and T's, and the like.  I usually throw on one of my knit dresses that looks nice but feel like pajamas.  I look dressed up but I don't feel like it.

I wear T-shirts often, preferably pocket T's but my Eagles shirts (Philly Special, Wentzyvania, and generic Eagles) get plenty of wear.

Uhhh, no. Kids parties are not usually clean and proper affairs. Bouncy house, water balloon fights, pools, etc.

Plus weekend Rick wears t-shirts.

You'd get a funny look doing that in Colorado. I wear a collared shirt and dress nicely for work, wouldn't wear that to most parties, especially kids' parties.
