I’m spending a few days there in Sept with minimal obligations to you taxpayers. Where can I get a quality bite with an equally (or better!) pour?

*eta* I’m staying at a place west of the airport on whatever highway it is goes north-south there. Just north of a National Guard Intel Center

How much do you want to spend? Best restaurant in the city is probably Palomino, but it's REAL money.

For more affordable faire several places on Massachusetts Ave are good. Rathskeller is a great old German biergarten near Mass.

George gave me info about a good one years back, but the pm is long gone. I know the Broadripple neighborhood is the cool spot. Give some dates and free time hours, I'll make an attempt to swing down.

I’d say fro dinner and a few drinks, plus tip, around $50 or so? A little more if it’s truly worth it.

George, wanna meet up for dinner?

For sure. I want to say 19-22. The Thursday to Saturday in that timeframe.

Broad Ripple is falling out of fashion as old downtown gets more gentrified. Mass Ave is the place now.

I forgot St Elmos which is an old school steak house but pretty pricy.

One of my favorite places in the city is in a strip mall at 56th and College. Patties of Jamaica. Cash only, two tables, limited hours and fecking fantastic food for cheap.

Definitely

Yeah, Bazbeaux Pizza was the shit 20 years ago. Broadripple probably lost its luster after the odds of seeing Pat McAfee drunk and naked on the curb late night dropped precipitously. Glory days.

Had plenty of those on Nebraska and Iowa.

*eta* Not saying I’m opposed to another good one, of course.

If you're looking for stuff to do...  Check out these things...

White River State Park / Canal Area / Downtown:

  •  CMOH Memoial.  https://en.wikipedia...(Indianapolis) Seriously, go see this.  Probably my favorite thing in Downtown Indy.  Go at dusk / night.
  • NCAA Museum
  • Indiana State Museum
  • Eitlejorg (Native American Art)
  • Soldiers and Sailors Memorial (on the circle)
  • AAA Ballgame at Victory Field
  • Indiana War Memorial and American Legion Mall, the mall can be good for people watching.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum

Get a sandwich at Goose the Market http://www.goosethemarket.com/ Or go to their larder / wholsale place. http://www.smokinggoose.com/  Across the street is https://flat12.me/welcome

I hear that this place is good  http://turchettis.com/. Haven't been there myself yet.

I just got around to checking this and it doesn't make sense.  National Guard Intel Center is in the heart of downtown, just northeast of the Circle.  It's very close to the Rathskeller, Mass Ave, and right in the middle of everything we've been talking about in this thread.  The airport is all the way west outside the loop of I465

There's a place called MacNiven's that has a really good (albeit not traditional) haggis & good beer list. Brugge Brewing has a Belgian slant to both food & beer.

A bazillion brewpubs these days of course.

You could easily be staying out by the airport, or even one exit west in my own town.  Lots of hotels out here.

DAMMIT. East of the airport. Want to say the highway was 203?

There goes my ability to make “can’t spell lost without LT” jokes...

Hmmm. Your google link, I think, is wrong. Maybe the old intel center? I’m really only going out because you guys built a massive new center hoping to become the regional training center for NG (it worked out, I’m training NG from Michigan there). anyway, it’s more of a compound than a building on the corner. It’ll be fenced off, not have a parking lot any junkie could shoot up in.
