Moviepass ran out of money for tickets last night. We watched Mission Impossible last night using e-ticket. Once I read this we all made reservations for The Spy Who Dumped Me. Get it while we can. We have a theater with electric leather recliners that has e-ticketing. No need to be within 100 ft of the theater. Reserve our tickets from home.

It was always too good to be true.  Congratulations to those who got good use from it before reality caught up.

I have abused the crap out of it for a year. If it folds I will move over to AMC's movie pass.

I already swapped to AMC’s version

We only have an AMC as our local theater

My wife still likes the 3D movies and such and I don’t mind them. Not being able to reserve online with MoviePass was the deal breaker for us. AMC is more expensive but our break even is still only at 2 movies a month.

We have a lot of AMC here. Anything odd about the AMC service?

We've been using it pretty regularly since April. Pretty sure we've gotten our $90 each out of it. Hope it gets propped up somehow!

You automatically get their stubs rewards status. So any concessions purchases accumulate points. Also gets you a free size upgrade on popcorn and sodas.

Tickets for any format they show
Online ticketing
Online seat selection.

It is double the price at 20$ per. Our matinee tix are 10.99 ish and regular is 14 I think. So 2 movies is our payback threshold.

Nothing odd in my experience. For an AMC customer it’s a superior experience BUT it does cost more.

They borrowed $5 million. Doesn't seem like that would last very long...

We'd been rarely going to movies much before MoviePass. The real sticker-shock was concession prices! Holy crap! We tend to go on Tuesday nights when AMC offers $5 drink + small popcorn for Stubs members.

Received this from Moviepass today. We have an e-ticketing theater so we have not been effected by peek pricing yet.

I assumed the long game was to lure people into the theater to buy stuff at the concession counter.

The ticket sales are a split with the distributor getting the lion's share. I do not know how the moviepass shares the revenue. What ever it is, the distributor had to approve the change.

lol. I very rarely go to the movies but if I had moviepass I would do exactly what Zaph is doing.... go see every crappy movie in the theater because why not. I assume that's what everyone else is doing and so it is no surprise that this would fail. :D

Could have been a massive success if they realized how to price it appropriately.  Now they're screwed.

Hmmm...what if we applied this idea to healthcare?

:troll:

I wish I had signed up for it, but not really too bummed that I missed out.  We go to the movies two or three times a year, but over the summer we definitely could have gotten in a bunch of matinees.
