Got an unopened bag of 2016 Amarillo in the freezer that I want to use up in the next few months.

Also got an amber lager on deck for later this week to brew.

Was thinking Magnum to bitter, saving the Amarillo for late flavor/aroma additions.  34/70 to ferment.

Any of youse use Amarillo like this, and if so, how did the resulting beer turn out?

I'd bet if you keep it restrained it will play nicely with the 34/70.

Or maybe go all in Amarillo; bitter and finish.

I would go all in and hammer the Amarillo from 15-0 and hit it with a nice DH.  :)

It's strange but I must have some rigidity when it comes to things like this.  When I want to use something flavorful like Cascade, Amarillo, Citra, Galaxy, etc. I use it in an ale and I typically want a bit more of it as opposed to less of it.  I typically don't use hops like that in a lager but that's just me and there is no reason for it other than my limited imagination.  :D  Take Founder's Solid Gold which is an "American Lager" that has some Lemon Drop in it... but not very much.  I feel like "give me more of it".  Kona Brewing had a blonde ale (Big Wave or something) that had a smidge of Citra (I think) in it.  It was good but when I taste those citrusy hops I feel like I want more of it as opposed to just a little bit.  When I think "Amber Lager" I'm thinking German, Czech or Mexican so I'm thinking clean nobles at that point but again... that's just me.

Ken, rigid, naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I like a touch of Amarillo in a beer like the OP is describing, brings a nice floral hint to the nose
