This sucks. I have a couple lines that tasted funny after cleaning them. Traced it to the oxygen cleaner I've been using. The pour tastes like soap until the beer runs out of the line then is reflavored after it sits in the line. Time does not matter. The last line I cleaned and immediately filled with starsan and left it full until I hooked it to the keg. Same soapy crap. I'm gonna change out all the lines I cleaned with this crap.

 

I noticed that Oxiclean "free" is no longer available here.  What's everyone else using?

Used it once for line cleaning. Never again. Works great for bottle cleaning! I use fox super flush. Breaks down beer stone, stains, etc like a champ.

Regular Oxi (called OxiClean Versatile) and then Starsan.  Never had an issue.   I wonder if the line type matters.  I used to have the softer stuff but now I have the thinner, harder stuff (I forget the name but it's the most God-forsaken stuff on the planet) and maybe it would be more likely to absorb into the softer stuff.

I used to use Oxiclean free followed by starsan and never had an issue. My lines are 1/4"  OD icemaker tubing. I ordered some 5-star LLC yesterday. Liquid line cleaner. Supposed to be a BA caustic cleaner. I'll try cleaning one of the flavored lines before replacing it and see if it helps.

I'm about to go to 1/4" John Guest fittings which will allow me to quick change my lines and say to hell with cleaning them all together. My current method of making lines is a PITA. Icemaker tubing is cheap enough to not worry about the cost. I think I pay ~$3 for a roll that makes 3 lines.

I used the John Guest fittings and I have to say that they were the best part of the process.  But the lines themselves are so freaking stiff and I'm using 10' per keg in a very small fridge and there are TWO kegs in there.  Really frustrating to work with but they have been working beautifully so far.  Good luck with it... I hope you get the issue resolved.  I like making beer and I like drinking beer but futzing with the infrastructure is not really something I like to do.

I have a full sized fridge with 6 kegs in it, make 3 lines 8'4" long from the 25'coils I buy and coil them up. I bought JG push lock to 1/4" barb and will use a small stub to connect them to my picnic taps so it shouldn't be too hard. I'll be able to quick change the icemaker tubing with a quick release JG fitting on each end and not have to disturb the tap or gas/liquid connections.

Wow, that's a lot of line! I run 7 footers and need around 11-12 pounds to dispense properly. What CO2 pressure are you running? What's the ID of the tubing? I think I use "standard" 3/16 beverage line.

My 1/4" icemaker lines are 8'4" long and probably ~ 3/16" ID. They pour fine at 10-12psi. I cut 25ft rolls into 3 lines.

I use Sun oxygen cleaner if I can find it, the dollar tree stuff used to be great, but now it's gross.

I cut off all the lines. Do you think my QDs and picnic taps are screwed?

I gave up on all the plastic it touched and replaced it.

Does this work better than blc? Even blc won't remove all of the deposits on the inside of some of my serving lines.
