I didn't want to interupt the silent night going on at Georges house.

Are we talking a weird sense of fashion? Or are we speaking of the stockpiling of goods to our weather or out last a major disaster?

I've seen a good fist full of referances to George being a prepper. If the latter is the case, I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I was just curious.

I dabble a little....

Since he stopped drinking he doesn't want to live anymore if shit goes down.  He's happy going down with the ship.

Same. I small part of me would like to see the need arise for prepping to pay off.  But it wouldn't be pretty.

I'm a something of a prepper but not like the weirdos on TV.  I'm prepared more for a temporary disruption like an ice storm or some kind of regional disaster disrupting transportation for a few weeks than for a complete, permanent breakdown of civilization.

There are a couple of threads on it if you search.

Even the weirdos on tv say they aren’t like the weirdos on tv though....

Not counting the food in the pantry or the old venison in the deep freezer, I have approximately 240 man-days of food stored at a decent 1800 Cal/day diet, although toward the end that would be nothing but rice and a few beans.  More time if Calories are restricted more, of course.  That may sound like a lot, but if all our kids and their partners comes to our house that's nine people - with a baby soon to be added.  Add in a grandparent or two, maybe, and we're down to under a month.

My father having grown up during the depression and fighting in both theaters of ww2 believed that the luxury of having, is always in peril of vanishing rather quickly.
That is instilled in me now.
Anyone who does not have a way to at least try and cope with such times of hardship, well imho are sort of in denial. The comfy world you live in has many many points of failure.
I'm not saying the sky is falling. Just historically it does every so often.
I'd like to have the best possible outcome if it does.
Prep on.
