My wife and I drove our daughter out to NC State last weekend. She's doing a summer research program in the chemistry dept. So I took the opportunity to hit some breweries. 10 in 4 days to be exact. Not a bad effort. 4 in Asheville, 2 in Morganton, 2 in Durham, 1 in Carborro, and 1 in Raleigh. There was only one "dud". All the rest were good to very good. Fun trip, but my wife and I were thankful to fly home instead of driving.

Sounds like a nice tour. Any chance you remember them all? Or at least remember the stinker? Were driving across that state in August and I'm going to need to make some stops along the way... probably for my own sanity.

Curious of the dud as well? I'm sure I have been to most if not all of the places you went.

I'd love to Matt but I will have the whole family in tow... including my in-laws. Hence, the above comment about my sanity. If you are anywhere near the outer banks tho I could probably break away at some point.

Gotcha, bummer. I know how that goes, my in-laws will be here tonight. But unfortunately I don't live near the outer banks.I'd love to Matt but I will have the whole family in tow... including my in-laws. Hence, the above comment about my sanity. The only one I didn't like was Bhramari in Asheville. They're into really weird beers and I am not so much.
Here's the run-down
Asheville: Wicked Weed (my favorite), Green Man, Burial (really good too), and Bhramari.
Morganton: Catawba and Fonta Flora. Both were very good.
Carborro: Steel Strings. I've been there a few times (my son's in grad school at UNC) and really like their beer.
Durham: Full Steam, Ponysaurus. Both very good and cool pubs.
Raleigh: Trophy. Great beer and awesome pizza.

Oh man, that's great. Thanks for the list. Were not going to be able to make as many stops as you, sadly. We'll likely be drivng across the state twice so if I can hit 3 or 4 of them on the way through I will be happy.

Never been to Bhramari, I'll remember to avoid it now though. Besides Steel Strings I've been to the rest. You hit some good places. The only one I didn't like was Bhramari in Asheville. They're into really weird beers and I am not so much.
