It never fails to surprise me how people come over and try some homebrew and often pick one of my least favorite beers of the bunch as their favorite.

Agree. I try and push the one I feel is the best but some always love the one on tap I just want to dump.

that's exactly right. my least favorite beer is an amber lager I made. it's not bad or anything - just not exactly what I wanted. one of the guests loved it and kept going back for more.
another was a guy that really likes hoppy stuff but kept hitting up the english/american hybrid rye IPA. which again I enjoy but is not my favorite hoppy beer.

I made a perfectly fine English ale but it wasn't really sitting with me so I bottled what was left so I could use the keg. This was years ago. We had a bunch of softball coaches and parents over and the head coach worked for Pabst and tried this English ale and went berzerk for it. I brought some to another party just for him and he drank it and then he was at our house again and drank the rest. So many other beers that were better but for some reason this one just hit his tastebuds right.
