Erroneously sent an *action required* type email to the wrong email group in our company.

All @ mycompanyname .com.

Hundreds of employees in London are totally confused by my request.

Let’s say there are 500 people in the group. I’ll know more when I get to work.

**Would you try to recall the message or issue a second, “please disregard” email?**

What makes less work for IT, or, causes less stress to the system?

I should probably sign it “Cheers.” Since they are Londoners.

The only good side is hundreds of Brits have now seen my profile pic, which is pretty effing adorable

Those mega distro lists should be locked down to a few folks. Requests made for any use of them.

If recalling is an option I would do that because you could possibly save a bunch of people from even seeing it in the first place.

That's what we do. It's an unwritten rule at our company that managers and above get to send to groups. MDs and above are the only ones allowed to use the All(group).

Of course, being an Exchange admin, none of that applies to us in IT but, we don't use it.

If I have to send something to All(US), I send it to my manager, Tickle and he sends it to Puddin'.

I do enjoy when someone attempts to recall an email. I’ll immediately read the email before I read the recall which is what processes the actual recall.

If you have an exchange server the admin can pull the message out pretty easily.

If they won't a quick please disregard message is probably the best bet

There could be worse times on this planet to send an "all company" e-mail that goes to London.

You have to figure about 75% of them are consumed with the Big Event tomorrow and probably don't give a #### what some twit across the pond did.  (I mean that lovingly and trying to channel what they might be thinking... not that I actually think you are a twit.)

pretty much this.

i have a friend that i graduated with from my masters program. he received an email on his work email from our alma mater asking for a donation. he meant to forward it to a coworker telling him that it was interesting they somehow dug up his work email that he had never given them, but claimed they did not have his regular email that he had in fact given them when they were trying to resolve an issue with his diploma. instead of sending it to me, he sent it to the entire accounting firm. he got some good laughs out of that. interestingly enough, one of the firm's partners took it upon himself to get the diploma issue resolve hastily.
