You know the NFL is not happy about the press this is getting.

Didn’t this story break a couple of weeks back? Is there more news about it? I can’t read the article behind the paywall.

TBH, I’m surprised it’s take. So long for something like this to come up. Cheerleading is fairly misogynistic, especially at a pro level.

Lol... Redskins about to get #MeToo'd. All the Nfl owners are probably rethinking the slave wages they pay cheerleaders right about now.

Cheerleaders in the NFL always seemed odd to me. I never even notice they are there. Half of the stadium can't even see them. It'll be interesting how it plays out. There's a huge number of girls who have been going into cheerleading as a sport. There must be tons of younger women looking to make.money as a pro cheerleader. Do they pull the rug out from under them?

Packers usually bring in a local HS or College Cheer squad each weekend and let them do their thing.

Um.... yes. Professional cheerleaders don’t really make much money at all. There are definitely better use of these young women’s time and abilities. It’s definitely not a career by any means.

They should get a bunch of fat guys to stand on the sidelines and cheer.  Charge them $1000 each or whatever they will pay and donate it to charity.

I don't see how going to into cheerleading is different than any other high school sport.  Almost no one goes pro in any of them.

The existence of NFL cheerleaders is all about objectification, pure and simple.

The XFL had strippers for cheerleaders in their first iteration.  that was awesome.

“What bothered them was their team director’s demand that they go as sex symbols to please male sponsors, which they did not believe should be a part of their job.”

Uuhhhhhh...

The NFL and the teams that have htem don't pay cheerleaders nearly enough for the amount of hours that go into their jobs.   A coworker has been a finalist for the Dallas cheerleaders for the past few years but never made the final cut.   She told us some of the hours they work  and it is more than a full time job.

It wasn't easy for me either. Who knows, it's not like I expected a Super Bowl after Wentz went down.

My understanding is the big time team's cheerleaders make a lot on the side for appearances and such.  Cowboys being the #1 example.  But their pay per game is shit.  Like $50.  I'm sure being a Cleveland Browns or Jacksonville Jags cheerleader pays shit and doesn't provide much extra money on the side.  I bet the Cowboys cheerleaders are making really good money for appearances, I could be wrong though.
