Effective May 11, new subscribers will pay $119 a year for the shipping and entertainment membership program, up from $99 today. The new annual fee will apply to current Prime members starting with renewals on June 16. Amazon last raised Prime’s fee in 2014, when it cost customers $79 a year.

If I used more of the movie type stuff, I might not mind, but maybe it's time to start looking at walmart.com, etc.

I'll cancel. I should never have signed up to begin with.

I'm seriously considering cancelling.  Not a big fan of Walmart, but what Amazon is up to smacks of gouging.

Sucks.

That said, they are staying in line, or just a bit cheaper than Netflix and have a whole lot more to offer.

Yeah, it's really not terrible for what you get. Netflix has better "free" stuff but I still use prime video a lot and having the ability to pay to get something that's not on Netflix comes in handy a lot. Between that, prime music and free shipping on 30-40 orders a year it still makes sense. But...Motherfecker!

Still smacks of gouging to me.  A 33% increase in 4 years.  Bullsh*t.

An extra less than two bucks a month for what I get? Not thrilled but not thinking of cancelling. It’s was an insane bargain when it was $80, still a deal at $100 and probably valued properly at $120. At least how I use their services. YMMV.

Wasn't that long ago I was paying $200/mo for cable and internet. Now I'm at less than $80 and there's all the other stuff that comes with prime. I ain't complaining at all.

If that prick Bezos wants $119 a year for Prime, he better damn well make sure that shit that qualifies for 2-day delivery gets delivered in 2 fecking days.

Interesting timing of this other headline

Amazon.com Inc agreed to pay the National Football League about $65 million per year to stream two more seasons of Thursday night games on its Prime Video service, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters. The price tag, about 30 percent more than Amazon paid for the rights last season...
