The guy at Sam's hands me a lagavulin box, only the top is not secure. Bottle goes flying and shatters on the concrete floor. Smells great in here, though!

45 oz of Marinara sauce at the Price Chopper self checkout yesterday.  Smelled wonderful.

I didn't lick the floor though

Two bottles of Clos du Bois Marlestone rolled out of the hatch of my truck and smashed on the driveway once. Once.

Can I ask the price? It used to be $78 here, now it's $108.

It's my all time favorite drink.

I snatched it at sam's because it was 90. Usually 105-110 here now.

My favorite as well.
After the break, the only one left was the display model, which I took.

Damn skippy, for $90 I'd have taken it too.

Lol. I had to come home and face my pyramid of greatness poster afterward. I could feel Ron looking through me.

Holy crap.....WANT.

Somewhat on-topic, I've never tried Lagavulin. The opportunity has never presented itself--hell, I don't even know how to pronounce it, come to think of it. I'm a fan of smoke, but I'm a little scared to pull the trigger on a full bottle. There's some fancy bars popping up around here, so I need to seek it out.

Lahg-uhh-voo-lin

Hearing the ladies at sam's try and figure out how to pronounce it was entertaining. I seems like an easier one, compared to caol ila, glengarioch, etc

I wanted to try Lagavulin until I saw the price. I love scotch, but there's a lot of great scotch for under $50/bottle to try first.

It has become a 2-3x a year treat for me. Ardbeg can still be had in the $70 range and it's also a top favorite of mine.

Was just about to suggest The Ardbeg as an alternative isla for schwanz, at a bit lower price point. I keep laphroaig around too, but it doesn't taste as refined.

I noticed a $55 bottle of Ardbeg the other day and I can’t recall which one it was. Maybe it was the Ardbog. I may grab it next time.

I’ve been keeping Talisker Storm on hand. No age statement but at $40 I think it’s a good value.

Lol. These tasters are such pretentious wads.

"Nose: Salty (as you'd hope), with lime and orange peels, touches of mud and pine, damp blankets, woody spice and some caramel sweetness hiding underneath. Behind all of it is a layer of woody smoke, maybe with a few leaves thrown onto the fire for good measure.

Palate: Sweet and syrupy up front, quickly followed by ferns and bitter woody bark in a bit of a balancing act. Riding along with that is prickly white pepper, rock pool brine, a touch of sweet fruit and a nice waxiness. Again behind everything, standing a little separate but waving at all of the other flavours is woody smoke - beach bonfires and pungent peat."

I’ve always felt the same way about some of the reviews. Damp blankets? I can’t recall ever thinking of damp blankets when tasting a spirit.
