Anyone ever make or have one? It is a Polish style beer that is 100% smoked wheat malt and Lublin or Saaz hops. I am thinking of giving it a try for a change.

I had one once that was a collaboration between 3 Floyd's and I think New Belgium (maybe someone else, can't remember). Anyways, drinking liquid smoke would have been better. This one was more like liquid ashtray. I do not exaggerate. No idea if it was a good example of the style or what. Undrinkable.

Sorry, didn't mean to be a Debbie Downer. Maybe there are good examples out there, not sure as this was my only experience with it. But that lactic note plus intense ashtray had me thinking... "there's a reason this style went extinct."

Oh no worries. The lacto was a surprise. I may have missed it in my initial investigation of the style because I was surprised to see that in there. I know Notch out east of me has done it and the interview said it was very refreshing but it is brewpub only and I have not had it. I will have to check the big beer store and see if they have any examples.

I made one last year. Pretty interesitng little beer when fresh, but the smoke faded quickly and I got tired of having it on tap well before was halfway gone.
