I just cleaned my New Brewpot with an over night soak of PBW. I have been using dish soap for years for cleanup, i am going to go back to using my PBW only for cleanup. I only use PBW in my kegs and systems, interested in what you people do..LOL
Do you use Dish soap to clean your brewpot?

I use PBW for general cleaning around my brewery, but in some cases (like for stubborn beerstone in my kettles) i use straight Star-san then follow w/ PBW to really clean the crud off.

Dish soap for my brewing equipment is a big no-no IMO.

usually for the brewpot I use bar keeper's friend to really scrub stuff off when it gets bad.
As for typical maintenance, a scrubby will clean it well enough, even some of the beerstone.
The only time I've intentionally used other chemicals with it were when I needed to use the kettle for its heat and the pumps to pump cleaners through other stuff to clean. I have a small pot I use to recirculate cleaner through the taps lines, I have also recirculated cleaner through my stainless racking cane (it had visible beerstone buildup).
That said, it is probably about time to recirculate some chemicals through the system to do a thorough cleaning.

I only use dish soap for the stuff that can fit in the sink, hydrometer, vourlauf pitcher, etc. Everything else gets some combo of star san or generic oxyclean. Even so, Legit PBW is so much better!

PBW or Oxyclean. I let is sit for half and hour and it magically cleans everything.
