Ouch. My hands hurt just looking at that. :D Nice work though. How many of these did you buy and how many kegs do you have? If you have more kegs than floaters are you going to just take them for a test drive and see how they work and then if you like them, grab some more for the rest of your kegs?

I have about 25-28 kegs right now I have 2 of these.  I may just go and grab 4 more just in case they decide to raise the price.  With 6 I think I will be all set.  It really was not all that hard to do.  Apply the keg lube, "pinch" the hose to get started and push.  I went till it went through the dip tube and pulled it back down till it was flush.

Right you were.  It took some coaxing and I need to use some keg lube but I got them in there.

These things are great.  3oz added free in the keg and the first pull had maybe 6 specks of hops and pint two has 0.

You know that these things are just a crutch for bad process right? OH MY GOD THEY'VE GOTTEN TO ME!!!!!

Okay, I'm seriously laughing so hard right now. The truth is that some of the low-O2 guys love these things. It would be rare that I would add hops to the keg like that but point taken because they're not just for hops... they're for everything. I'm kind of stuck until I find a better way to limit trub in the fermenter but if I keep whiffing on that or don't get it where I want, the floaters are on my radar for sure. I'm traveling this weekend but next weekend I'm making a dark lager and have a couple more things to try to reduce schputz. I'm glad they're working and I know neddles is digging them too. Any drawbacks on using them, cleaning them, keeping them out of the way, etc? You're using two short diptubes in the keg, right?

Cleaning them, I guess. Otherwise I think they are a game changer. Clearer beer faster, you can travel with the kegs (or move them around) instead of filling growlers to take with you (suboptimal), no restrictive containment of dry hops in the keg. If these $10 versions are working for everyone then it is a complete no-brainer in my mind.

Two gas in diptubes for me.  My true gas in one is cut very short.  I guess cleaning may be an issue.  Since I just use a keg cleaner and force liquid in the corny posts I do not see it being an issue at all.

Neddles - mine are the $10 version.

So what's the process on cleaning them? Do you feel like you need one of those long pipe-cleaner jobbies to scrub out the interior of the line? Is it that you have to remove the keg post, then remove the floater and line and clean it separately or what? I have tried to envision what it would be like to use them but without actually using them I'm unclear on the preferred maintenance. Also, would "hops in a muslin bag" be undesirable because you don't get the same oomph with it? You guys I know I like my clear beer but for some reason I have not jumped on this train. I guess I don't want the added nonsense and I must be convinced that clear beer is possible without these things. How I would know that I have no idea since my low-O2 beers look pretty swampy. <_<

I do not think you will need a long brush.  The hose is silicone and if  you really want you can boil it to clean.  Me, I will use hot PBW and pressure to clean.  Like a diptube you will need to take off the post and pull out the hose.  I think you can get it clean running it under a kitchen faucet.

Yep, and since they seem to be working well for everyone I intend to use them to outfit the remainder of my kegs.

Are you using the short diptube too? I remember the $10 jobbies didn't come with one but the more expensive ones did. Did you have to buy additional short diptubes from a supplier?

The one he has came with a new diptube.  He has a different version, Clear Draft or something like that.

Ah, okay. I saw the version pkrone posted (MoreBeer, $10) and then another one that may have been $35 or so. That's fine if you're talking one or two units but I have ten kegs so that's a $250 difference. I'm sure another 3 months will go by and I'll be raving about these things. You guys know I'm always a few laps behind. :P
