Since it is relevant to your interests... L17 Harvest is the same strain as WY2352 which, as you know, is of the same origin as Omega Bayern Lager.

Oh, didn't know that. That strain is usually accompanied by the words "from the oldest brewery in Munich". How did you hear it was the same? I wouldn't have known the Bayern was the same as 2352 if you hadn't mentioned it. You must have some yeast "inside information". ;)

Thought I saw Denny or someone else reputable confirm it somewhere on one of these forums but I have no idea where. Anyways this chart has been circulating for a good bit.

Oh sweet, Imperial has the 940 equivalent too. Nice. I love charts like that but I have to say that in the old days there were charts around that were absolutely NOT accurate so I might reserve judgment until after making a beer with it. Wyeast had a Mexican strain too (2005 Cerveza Mexicana) that some people said was 940 and it was not. Usually 830 is shown as the equivalent of 2124 which I don't think it correct either. Great to see this though as liquid lager strains are my favorite thing to go shopping for. :D

IIRC all the Imperial strains originated from Wyeast. As did their founders. Several of their original offerings were yeasts that were Wyeast PC strains at the time. Its not a stretch to believe it came from 2352.

Only one way to find out. :D

I sent a message to Wyeast on their FB page today asking about 2782 and whether they might think it would be released again. I got a response just now saying that they don't announce the private strains ahead of time but that they *DO* take 'requests' into account and that a number of people have requested 2782. The reply also went on to say that 2782 hasn't been released in a long time "so the odds are pretty good". I don't know if that's good, old-fashioned nonsense or if we might see that strain soon. For those of you who keep close track of this, please let me know if you see this 2782-Staro strain released... it's a really nice Czech strain.

Also, apologies to Chils for derailing his thread.
