Didn't recruiting change this year to have an earlier signing period? He need to move on to the vols. He has to figure out what he has and that he needs

Excellent point Sidney. Many callers on radio are saying same thing.

Some are ok as long as he hustles at it and are commending him for finishing out what he started there. But you simply can’t ignore the early recruiting period. I believe the signing day is 12-20.

He needs to move on. He gets a pass next year but in year 2 and 3 the fans will wants some wins. Needs to salvage what he can of this class. I guarantee that other sec coaches have been targeting Tenn verbal commitments.

He also needs to build his staff.

He also already has been part of national title winning staffs at FSU and bama so he doesn't need the added line on the resume.

I am sure saban understands.

I would hope so.  When he left MSU to go to LSU, he left us high and dry for the bowl game.

I know when they dropped a house on Penn State, the NCAA granted a bunch of waivers.

The NCAA has given waivers to players from numerous schools that were hit by sanctions. Why should this be different?

I don't know how he was recruited at Ole Miss, but I don't exactly agree with the 'waiver' programs.

NCAA rules:

One-time transfer exception: If you transfer from a four-year school, you may be immediately eligible to compete at your new school if you meet ALL the following conditions:

  • You are transferring to a Division II or III school, or you are transferring to a Division I school in any sport other than baseball, men's or women's basketball, football (Football Bowl Subdivision) or men’s ice hockey. If you are transferring to a Division I school for any of the previously-listed sports, you may be eligible to compete immediately if you were not recruited by your original school and you have never received an athletics scholarship.

What you agree with and what the NCAA does are two different things. So, why should this be different from other instances where the NCAA waived the year wait because the school had been hit by sanctions?

the players shouldn't be penalized for the coach/administration actions.

That's my stance as well, but it's Michigan so AL needs to rant about Walmart. :D

I wonder what they will settle for. I assume the amount will not be announced. 5-7 million would be my guess. With the agreement he will not speak negatively about the school

The Chancellor can only sign contracts 100k or less. The CFO never signed so it doesn’t appear to be valid. I don’t begrudge him a settlement but I don’t see 20 million.

:rolf:

Just because it's not valid to UT doesn't mean it's not valid in court. I'd expect at least one season's worth of salary plus a few mil in "our bad" money.
