So, I was talking to the wife and she's down for growing hops in the backyard. We actually kind of have an ideal space for it. Our yard gets just pelted with sunshine after 10am in the summers, so it should provide a nice shield.

I'm trying to figure out what varieties I want. I had heard that Cashmere is a good sub for Mosaic, so I'm going to buy a pound of that to try this winter and give it a try.

I love Simcoe, but I know we can't get it due to its proprietary status or whatever. I guess I'm just checking to make sure that's right and to see if anyone knows of a great substitute for it?

I mostly do American ales and I'll probably even knock out a few belgians too.

Thanks for the input!

I use Citra/Chinook as a sub for Simoce but Citra is proprietary also.  I would plant some Chinook, used late it is wonderful.
