I can't remember much about the copper malt. How do they recommend using it?

http://www.brewingwi...sCopperMalt.pdf

10% adds copper/oranges hues

20% adds redish color

30% is solidly a red ale

I read a couple other posts where 20% seemed to be the preferred amount so we will see.

Carapils copper is not the same as carapils, at least from my research.

Hmmm.

Sounds pretty similar to carapils in a few aspects according to Briess.

Hey man.   Do whatever.    I'm just not a carapils fan in my lagers.   Might make an awesome pale ale.

I plan to brew it just as I have it. I know many are not fans of carapils but the other way to know how the new malt will work is to try them out. Worse thing that happens is I dump it.

I like carapils. Body without sweetness or flavor seems pretty useful to me.

In this case hopefully the flavor is a good one

Did not happen last weekend but I got a swollen pack of 1056 sitting on the counter and plan to get a starter going Thursday with an anticipated Saturday AM brew day.  I am really curious on the Carapils copper and the hop combo I picked.

I've heard bravo is a good enhancer of other hops. Is that right?

That is what has been said.  Supposed to work well with the C hops and lend some orange to the beers.  I have used it before but it was in a blend of Citra, Mosaic and Chinook so I could not pick much up.

My cascade was pretty old so I changed it up and used Barvo, Azacca and Mosaic.

That would be magic to my tastes. Hoping the carapils copper delivers too.

Took a gravity reading last night prior to cold crashing and it was sitting right at 1.010 and the hydro sample was great.  At this point I am not worried 1 bit about the 20% of Carapils copper.  I think the color is nice as well. I assume it will lighten a touch as the beer clears.

I usually find the beer can look darker once the light doesn't bounce back at you before passing through much beer.  time will tell though!  I may have to try some of this stuff out

Time will tell on the color I guess.  Should be ready this time next week. Start the dry hop Wednesday and then move to the serving keg by Saturday and carbonate it up.

I am thinking 5-10% in a NEIPA would give a nice color.

How do you think the taste/body compares with regular carapils?
