Evenin' everyone,Just hoping for some help with the new stir plate I've built. The fan goes round, the magnets go round, but the stir bar doesn't move at all. Some specs:2.75" fan...............too small?12 x 5 mm rare earth magnets, 3/8" apart mounted to fan............too close? The magnets are about 1" from the top of the project box the fan is mounted in...............too far?Stir bar is the type with the pivot ring.................not good? Can't wrap my head around the problem so I don't know where to start. Feel free to ask any question. Thanks a millionJ

Does the fan continue to run when the stir-bar is in the presence of the magnet? If so, the only thing I can think of is that the magnet is too far from the stir-bar. If not, maybe you need more power...

I'm gonna just throw my bet down on too far, but consumption's question is a good one.

It does run with the stir bar but the bar just shakes in place. No revolutions at all. Still tinkerin'.

Does the polarity of the magnets have anything to do with anything? Do they need to be aligned somehow? Setup as is, on end of the stir bar is repelled from the magnets. That would seem to be an issue somehow, right?

SORTED! Thanks for all of your help. Magnets too far apart apparently.
